KO KIDS

BOXING & KICKBOXING

Kids and Youth will get to punch and kick the heavy bags, work with our coaches on the focus mitts, learn how to work the rhythmic bags and get in shape with fun boxing and kickboxing workouts that will allow them to work at their own level.  This class is for ages 4 and up.  We separate the age groups and levels.

DANCENASTICS

For ages 10+, Girls and boys will learn hip hop dance moves and gymnastics tumbling.  KO's Dancenastics was created by Coach Belcher in 1985.  Belcher is the founder and former owner of CATTS, has over 35 years experience as a choreographer, coaching gymnastics and dance. The youth will get to perform!

DO IT ALL

With KO KIDS, your kids can do it all.  They can participate in boxing, kickboxing, fitness, dance and gymnastics.  No extra cost.  They get to choose while in class at KO on Tuesdays & Thursdays 430-530pm.  Mix it up and have fun!

Boxing Training for Children

Evander Holyfield began his boxing training when he was 8 years old and weighed 65 pounds. He went on to become an Olympic medalist and four-time world heavyweight champion. Your child may not ever become the heavyweight champion, but he or she can reap several benefits from the sport of boxing. Training in this sport helps children excel both physically and mentally.

MENTAL BENEFITS
Boxing offers children several mental benefits that they need in their daily lives. Improved physical health and improved performance in the ring can build your child's confidence. In addition, when boxing an opponent or just punching a speed bag, extreme focus is required. This can translate into better focus in the classroom. This sport also helps youngsters control anger and aggression. Children learn that losing their tempers in the boxing ring or boxing workouts, is actually counter-productive. When young boxers successfully complete rigorous workouts and matches, they also learn about self-discipline and determination.
(KO Kids is a NO contact class, NO sparring). Team sparring is available, separate from our youth classees.

PHYSICAL TRAINING
Boxing training includes jogging, jump rope, ladder runs, agility and stamina drills All these activities improve your child's cardiovascular fitness. Boxers also spend a lot of time strengthening their arms and legs. Youth boxing training focuses on bodyweight exercises such as push-ups, abs and squats. Boxing can help your child get into peak physical shape.

SAFETY
KO is a registered USA Boxing Gym with USA Boxing Coaches, registered with SAFESPORT. KO Kids are always closely supervised by a boxing coach who ensures the children don't throw improper techniques, follow the rules, respect the Training, the equipment, each other and themselves. When hitting the heavy bags, children wear hand wraps. Hand wraps help prevent children form hurting their hands or wrists.

PUNCHING
Boxing will teach your child how to throw several types of punches. These punches include the jab, cross, hook and uppercut. Your child will learn the correct body mechanics needed to throw these techniques with the most speed and power. These skills not only help children compete in a ring, but they can also help children defend themselves against bullies or dangerous people outside of the ring. The skill and techniques required for Boxing punches and defensive maneuvers, will enhance their athletic abilities outside of KO. They will excel in their sport.

FOOTWORK
Proper footwork is an integral part of boxing. Boxers must efficiently move around the ring to deliver punches and evade them. They must also know how to properly distribute weight on each foot to pack the most power in each punch. The importance of both punching and footwork in boxing improves coordination and balance in children.

KO YOUTH BOXING CLASS TRAINING REGIMEN will increase their skill level in the following:

👊Endurance thru heavy bag work
💪Strength thru weight bearing exercises
🏁Power and explosive energy by executing ply metrics and resistance drills
💯Speed with quick aggressive upper body exercises (KO 100’s)
👐Hand speed with the use of the Speed Bag
👣Agility thru footwork and defense drills
💃Flexibility thru the understanding and use of your reach and torque
⭕Nerve with defense drills (boxing dodge ball)
🏆Durability by discovering how far you can push yourself thru the exercises training.
🛂Hand-eye coordination thru the use of the speed bags, double end bags and reflex bags
🚩Analytic aptitude thru footwork, defense and counterpunching drills
✴Balance thru learning your boxing stance, shifting thru your punches and footwork
🌟Core strength thru the many abs and core exercises and learning how to use torque
